Goldie May is software-as-a-service for genealogists, providing research power tools. Goldie May is accessed through a browser extension and your data is stored in the cloud.

Watch a 3-minute video of what Goldie May can do.

1. Install the appropriate extension for your browser: Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.
2. Click the blue button "Add to Chrome".
3. In the dialog box, click "Add extension".
4. At the top right of Chrome, look for the newly installed Goldie May button, a white "g" inside a black circle.
5. If you don't see the Goldie May icon, click the puzzle piece icon, look for "Goldie May", then click the "thumbtack" icon. You should now see the "g" button.
6. Click the "g" button to open Goldie May.

Goldie May is a freemium product. You can use the free features forever, or upgrade to get more functionality. See the pricing page.

There's no trial period, but you can pay for 1 month, immediately cancel to prevent auto-billing, then use it for the entire month.

Goldie May currently works with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Chrome-based browsers, e.g. Brave, Vivaldi, etc. I'm considering supporting Safari but have no plans yet. (Let me know if that is important to you.)

Goldie May works on Apple, Windows, and Linux computers running Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Unfortunately, Goldie May does not currently work on mobile devices like iPhone, iPad, or Android.

To access ALL of Goldie May's features you'll need to work from the FamilySearch tree, but several features, including the Subway Map, are available with Ancestry, and more are coming.

A FamilySearch account is required to sign in. After sign-in, you can stay on FamilySearch or head over to Ancestry.

The research log can log any page on the Internet, including records from FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast, Findagrave, BillionGraves, Google, etc.

The locality research feature include links to the catalogs of FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast, and WorldCat.

Automatic citations are created for FamilySearch and Ancestry records.

Over time, support for more services will be added.

Goldie May does not work directly with desktop programs like RootsMagic or Family Tree Maker.

There's no option to import data into Goldie May because it doesn't have its own family tree. On the other hand, if your desktop program can sync to a private Ancestry tree, you can use that with Goldie May.

Having said all that, you can still use the research log with any desktop program. If your desktop program can launch record searches for you on Google Chrome, you can use Goldie May to log those searches.

Country-specific research hints are available for Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tonga, the UK, United States, and Wales.

No, but hopefully you will. :) Goldie May reads data from your FamilySearch or Ancestry tree but leaves (pun intended) the changes to you.

You can export your project research logs as a CSV file including URL, title, date, and other fields. Screenshots are not yet exported but will be available in the future.
